This simple Shiphrah and Puah origami craft is a lovely puzzle to play with when made. It has 3 images to reveal, the words, the midwifes and the superheroes.
|To make this craft you will need a pair of scissors and the PDF printout. The full colour template includes colour backgrounds to identify different pictures more clearly and help with folding, if you have a teen or pre-teen group the best results are with the reduced colour template.

Start by adding any colour if needed and cutting out the large square.
Fold the square in half diagonally with the ink on the inside, corner to corner to make a big triangle. Open up and repeat the other way. Don’t worry if you fold everything the wrong way, just fold both ways instead!
Open out again and fold each corner into the middle, still with the ink on the inside, the folds should create more little triangles.
Lets repeat the process with rectangles. Working with the ink on the OUTSIDE now fold the fully opened square in half down the middle to form a rectangle. Rotate and repeat.
Open out again and fold one edge into the middle to form a long thin rectangle, rotate and repeat for all 4 edges.
Now comes the tricky bit. Each flat side needs to be folded into the centre. Fold one side then fold back the corner and fold the next side – you’ll know you are correct because the image will line up!
When all four sides are done it will leave you with what looks like a pinwheel
Open out each corner and flatten it down. The image of Shiphrah and Puah should appear as the corners come together.
Discover the other pictures as you play with the folds.
ps. I used sticky tack for the pictures to hold the images flat, kids small hands may need a bit of practice to hold an image open so they can view it all!
