The moment of a Jairus’ daughter waking is the most dramatic visually of the story. This paper model craft is a nice way of capturing that moment, and even has moving parts so the girl can indeed ‘wake up’ as Jesus commanded her to do.

The updated version of this craft has a much nicer feel – not only are the graphics for the characters and setting improved, there is a decorative table and the much requested inclusion of the Jesus character image. If you are looking for the old version you can find it here.

Jairus’ Daughter is healed because Jesus steps into the picture. This super simple craft illustrates that moment by showing how faith is not just something we have but something we do. Every time we pick up the pencil we are remembering how Jesus gave the little girl his hand and woke her up.

This is a super short tutorial and is self-explanatory. The pdf printout of the skirt shape and the head images is here, there are 5 sets per A4 page. The pdf also contains written instructions

This worksheet about Jairus is suitable for most age groups, those of school age and above. The worksheet is designed to be printed in colour but will work in grey scale.

The sheet consists of various areas, a discussion on what faith is, an acrostic to fill in, a chance to look up the story e;elsewhere, a viewpoint exercise and a spot the difference. The sheet would be a good filler activity and probably shouldn’t take more than about 10 minutes of the lesson. The whole sheet could be done as a group.

The PDF can be downloaded by clicking on the image.

This is the old version – New Version can be found here.

The moment of a Jairus’ daughter waking is definably the most dramatic visually of the story. This paper model craft is a nice way of capturing that moment, and even has moving parts so the girl can indeed ‘wake up’ as Jesus commanded her to do.

This is quite a long tutorial, but the craft is mostly self-explanatory.The craft is not made to fold flat but to be a standing piece. Please note I have not included a Jesus figure.

Jairus is today’s Bible hero because he showed us the gift of Faith.

Essential Teachers notes:
The story of Jairus is a firm Sunday school favourite, but the power of his faith and belief is built up and then tested by the healing of the woman who is bleeding. While this retelling just refers to the woman as an ‘old lady’ it’s important not to miss this part of the story. Please note, that while it is the daughter who gets healed this is a story about Jairus not the daughter.

Main Passage : Luke 8
Additional Passages : Mark 5:21–43, Matthew 9:18–26,

—————————————- (more…)

The hero in this story is Jairus, he is part of the ‘friends of Jesus’ series as his story directly involves him. Please note this lesson is not about his daughter’s perspective, though the narrative includes her.

Staking them up – this is a simple illustration, give the children blocks or lego and ask them to build a tower that reaches the ceiling, say they have a time limit and then shout go. some children will work together others will try the endeavour by themselves. When they are part way start a 10 second countdown. The task should be impossible, just like the task of raising someone from the dead.

Believable – split the youngsters into small groups and give them 1 minute to list all the things they believe in – start them off by saying I believe the sun will rise tomorrow…
